The Fourth International Last Aid Conference was held from 4th to 6th September 2024 in Cologne, Germany. Seventy-three participants from 16 different countries and nationalities participated.

For decades, palliative and end-of-life care (PEOLC) in Canada was delivered by individual programs and directed by individual organizations. There was little in terms of overarching strategy or unified vision. Things started shifting in the early 2010’s.

Advance care planning is a crucial step in making sure that health and personal care wishes are known and respected. In 2024, Advance Care Planning (ACP) Canada conducted a national poll. Findings from this poll helped guide the creation of new resources from ACP Canada, designed to make planning easier, accessible, and more supportive for everyone.

Life-limiting illnesses can cast a long shadow over the lives they touch. For everyone concerned, everyday can bring physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges that test the boundaries of human endurance. Despite the countless individuals that are affected, conversations around life limiting illness often remain unspoken, shrouded in a mix of fear, uncertainty, and stigma. Hospice Southeast New Brunswick is aware of this challenge and since 2004, has been striving to raise awareness of life-limiting conditions and the supports that are available to individuals in the community.
