At May’s Place and Cottage Hospice, individuals from all walks of life receive compassionate end-of-life care in a home-like environment. Our patients are like family. People receive the support to live with the best possible quality of life, with dignity and self-determination. Patients and their loved ones are able to spend meaningful time together in peaceful settings without the strain of care-taking.

Hospice staffing is funded by Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. Other costs, including our social worker and facility maintenance, are funded by patient fees and fundraising.

May’s Place

May’s Place specializes in providing care to individuals with mental health challenges and addictions. May’s was Western Canada’s first free-standing hospice and remains the only hospice in the Downtown Eastside.

Cottage Hospice

Patients at Cottage Hospice are able to spend time with loved ones amidst the peaceful environment of a 1924 heritage building located in Burrard View Park. Patients have views of the North Shore mountains and volunteers tending the flower garden. Cottage Hospice is a beloved landmark of the Burrardview Community and was honoured in 2011 by Vancouver Heritage Foundation as part of its “Places That Matter Plaque Project”.
