Janet joins CHPCA after a position with the United Way of Thunder Bay as their Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement. Prior to that she was in Owen Sound where she was the Executive Director of Grey Bruce Hospice (Chapman House). She began her career in hospice and palliative care fundraising in 2014 in Collingwood with Hospice Georgian Triangle (Campbell House), becoming the Foundation Director at the HGT Foundation in 2019.

She is proud to have been a Fellow of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Foundation Canada Fellowship in Inclusion and Philanthropy, former Chair of the Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO) Community of Practice for Fundraisers, and President of the AFP Central Ontario Chapter for 2021-22. She earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive designation in 2018.

Prior to becoming a professional fundraiser, Janet worked in television broadcast and media production for 22 years with CBC Television, CTV, TSN, Discovery Channel and others in Toronto.

Janet’s approach to fundraising comes from a place of relationship building and storytelling. As a professional fundraiser, she knows donors want to be a part of the solution. Communicating the stories of impact is crucial to this. Building relationships to align with donors who want to make their own impact and helping them to see their impact grow to serve and benefit the community, she believes is a privilege.

We are thrilled to have Janet join the CHPCA team and bring her wealth of experience and passion for hospice palliative care to our organization. Her dedication to relationship building and storytelling will undoubtedly enhance our efforts to support those in need of compassion and care across Canada.
