CHPCA Appoints Laurel Gillespie as Chief Executive Officer

Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association (CHPC) are pleased to announce the new position of Chief Executive Officer commencing 29th January 2021.

Laurel Gillespie, CEO of the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association.

As we move forward into a new year and new realities, we are delighted to introduce Ms. Laurel Gillespie as the new Chief Executive Officer.  Over the past year, Laurel has held the position of Director, Advance Care Planning at CHPCA and she comes with a post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Business Management and a master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Laurel is a Certified Health Executive (CHE) through the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) and has been on the Board of Autism Canada for the past seven years.

Laurel has numerous years of experience at the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre and at the House of Commons supporting Members of Parliament. She has been nominated for consideration as a Senator in Canadian Parliament for her good works. Please join us in welcoming Laurel to her new role!

After nineteen years of dedicated service, CHPCA is preparing to say ‘Farewell’ to our Executive Director Sharon Baxter.  Sharon is well-known across Canada for her leadership with advocacy and initiatives tirelessly focused on improving hospice palliative care for all Canadians and citizens across the world.

Please join us in offering Sharon all the very best wishes as we say farewell, and offer Sharon our heartfelt appreciation for her memorable years of service and dedication.
