The Lighthouse Children and Families receives Canadian Compassionate Company (CCC) designation

June 11th, 2019 (Ottawa, Ontario). The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association (CHPCA)’s Champions Council is proud to announce that The Lighthouse Children and Families has been designated a Canadian Compassionate Company (CCC).The Lighthouse Children and Families has earned this designation because of their commitment to support employees that are caring for ill or injured loved ones.

The CCC designation is awarded to Canadian employers who support their employees that have taken on the vital role of caring for seriously ill or injured loved ones. By supporting their employees who have taken on this difficult task, the employer plays a significant and positive role in the caregiving process. Accordingly, the CHPCA’s Champion’s Council is delighted that The Lighthouse Children and Families meets the required criteria to become a part of the Canadian Compassionate Companies (CCC).

“It is essential for organizations to lead by example, and when we see a hospice offering extended leave to employees whose job is to care for palliative patients, it really reaffirms the value of this model and promotes palliative care for everyone” said Russell Williams, longtime member and Chair of CHPCA’s Champion’s council.

“The Board and the team of The Lighthouse Children and Families are very proud to see The Lighthouse’s core values of engagement, respect, goodwill and solidarity be recognized with the Canadian Compassionate Companies designation. The authenticity of our culture of compassion is the glue that keeps our great community together – it’s how The Lighthouse can light the way for families across Quebec who have a child with a life-shortening disease, so that this child can enjoy life to the fullest… to the very end” says Michele Viau-Chagnon, Cofounder and Administrator.

Formed in 2010, the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association’s (CHPCA) Champion’s Council is comprised of key Canadian leaders who have offered to advance the profile of hospice palliative care across the country.
