The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association announces an exciting new partnership

The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association is pleased to announce that  Arbor Memorial has made a commitment to sponsor the 2013 Hike for Hospice Palliative Care.

“We are thrilled to have Arbor Memorial join us as a National partner for the hike for hospice palliative care,” said Sharon Baxter, Executive Director of the CHPCA, “partnerships such as this one allow us to ensure that all funds raised by local hike sites continue to remain within the local communities.” It is our hope that this is the beginning of a long, mutually beneficial partnership between our two organizations. The Hike for Hospice Palliative Care is currently in its 11th year, with over 100 hike sites participating from across Canada. Last year alone, the hike sites raised over $1,700,000.00 for local hospice palliative care programs and services. The purpose of the Hike is not only to raise much needed funds for hospice palliative care in Canada, but also to raise awareness of the many challenges faced by hospice palliative care and to promote the phenomenal work that all volunteers and professionals in the field perform daily

General Manager of the Ottawa Region John Laframboise has been hiking personally for many years and is a big supporter of the hospice palliative care program development.  “As a hiker, it is great to be able to assist in raising funds to improve hospice palliative care for all Canadians,” added John Laframboise, General Manager of Arbor Memorial, “we believe that all should have access to the best possible hospice palliative care whenever and wherever they need it.”
