Kensington Hospice at Kensington Health is seeking qualified palliative care physicians with advanced training in palliative medicine. Successful candidates will join a passionate group of palliative care physicians working collaboratively to provide high-quality, person-centered & equitable palliative care on a rotational basis at our 19-bed hospice. Expected start dates for these positions is July 1, 2023, or shortly thereafter.
Successful candidates will hold an MD degree and have, or be eligible for, certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada OR certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Successful candidates must have advanced training in palliative medicine and proven clinical excellence in the various aspects of palliative care. Successful candidates will also have proven experiences in working in community & equity-oriented models of palliative care.
Successful candidates will be expected to hold or be eligible for academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Successful candidates will participate in the educational programs offered at Kensington Hospice for trainees in healthcare disciplines and may collaborate in clinical research and quality improvement programs. Successful candidates should also be effective medical educators with demonstrated achievement in teaching and education.
Clinical activities will include attending on the inpatient hospice service, participating in the after-hours/weekend on call rotation schedule, as well as providing consultation for new referrals & admissions. Candidates interested in advancement through roles of leadership related to medical education, quality improvement and research at the hospice, will be preferred. Successful candidates will report to the Medical Director of Kensington Hospice.
Estimated remuneration will be commensurate with the number of weeks worked on the clinical service through fee-for-service billings. Applications will be accepted until April 3, 2023. The Kensington Hospice supports individuals who are living with life-limiting illness and their caregivers by providing care through an interdisciplinary team. The recent hospice expansion makes it it the largest free-standing hospice on one site in Toronto.
