2020 Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Learning Institute in a New Virtual Format this Year

The Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association is hosting the 5th biennial Learning Institute in a new virtual format this year.  Scheduled to take place from November 12 – 13, 2020 the Learning Institute will present the most leading information on topics in hospice palliative care.  Each year the CHPCA works with a sophisticated caliber of educators and mentors to come up with relevant topics to present.  The 2020 Learning Institute features four streams, each presented by the best faculty in Canada.  This year’s streams are:

  • Stream 1: Communication in Serious Illness: An Innovative Approach to Clinical Care and Quality Improvements
  • Stream 2: Psychosocial Learning
  • Stream 3: ACP in Canada: New Tools in Community Care
  • Stream 4: Compassionate Leadership and Compassionate Communities – where do we go from here?

The Learning Institute also features two plenaries.  The opening plenary, presented by Dr. José Pereira will be:  The Impact of the COVID‐19 Pandemic on Palliative Care in Canada: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.  The Learning Institute will wrap up with a closing plenary and Q&A session on Advocacy in Hospice Palliative Care.

The Learning Institute is geared towards intermediate to advanced level learning and encourages health professionals, comprised of physicians, nurses, administrators, social workers, therapists, pastoral care providers, and academics to participate in this excellent learning opportunity.

The 2020 Learning Institute will also be featuring a ‘virtual’ poster hall, plenaries, and other networking and sharing opportunities.
