The Harold and Shirley Lederman Palliative Care Centre is an inpatient unit on the 16th floor of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Patients with life-threatening illnesses are admitted to our unit to help manage complex physical, psychological and social issues, including support for family and friends. We also work with patients and their family to arrange transfer home with home care support or to a community palliative care unit after patients have received care.

The Harold and Shirley Lederman Palliative Care Centre has 10 private rooms and 1 semi-private room, for a total of 12 beds. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team that includes but is not limited to: physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, social workers, spiritual care professionals, music therapists and art therapists. A member of your health care team needs to refer you to the centre before you are admitted. When patients are ready for discharge (ready to leave) from the Palliative Care Centre, the process is carefully coordinated with patients, their family, home care and, if needed, other health care professionals, such as oncologists.
