More Details

Lionel Kelland Hospice is for people in the last stage of their lives. In addition to the need for pain and symptom management, individuals who are dying often have needs that are non-medical in nature.

For the Resident: A highly skilled multi-disciplinary team of health care providers will focus on pain management and provide the greatest quality of life possible. The emotional, cultural, spiritual, practical and functional needs of each resident and their family are equally prioritized.

For Families: Lionel Kelland Hospice will support families and caregivers. Grief counselling and bereavement programs will help people understand the grief experience, manage the stress of change, and find meaning without their loved one.

For Caregivers: For those providing care at home for a dying loved one, support will be available. Respite care of a loved one who requires palliation will be available. This program will allow home caregivers to have a rest while their loved one receives in-residence care at Lionel Kelland Hospice.

For the Community: Many people want to stay in their homes for as long as possible, and for those that do, their family members usually shoulder the care. Lionel Kelland Hospice will offer community outreach programs that help caregivers address their own stress and fatigue.

For Health Care Providers: As the first community-based residential hospice in Newfoundland and Labrador, Lionel Kelland Hospice will provide professionals with training, support and ongoing educational programs.
