More Details

Desert Valley Hospice Society is a registered charitable organization committed to supporting excellence in the delivery of hospice care, palliative care, and life-limiting illness care services for residents of the communities of Oliver, Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls. The goal of end-of-life care is the same regardless of setting; to ensure the best possible quality of life for dying people and their families.

As a society, we promote public awareness and education of related issues, and we work towards honouring the memory of persons, whose lives have been lost due to illness, by holding special events such as our annual Celebration of Caring HandsHootenanny for Hospice, and Hike for Hospice.

Numerous volunteers and supporters of the society raise funds on an ongoing basis to support the work of DVHS. With the support of our community partners, we secure and manage donations in order to help improve palliative and end-of-life care in our communities.

Through our partnership with Interior Health and following the BC Hospice Volunteer Standards, our trained hospice volunteers provide grief and bereavement support, palliative support, wellness check-in calls, dementia and Alzheimer’s support, advance care planning, companionship and caregiver support, and they sit vigils with persons at the end-of-life.
