Learning Institute Registration

The 2026-2027 Learning Institute is a virtual workshop series consisting of more than 30 standalone sessions, delivered in two series: 

• Fall Learning Institute Series: 15 sessions offered from September to December 2026 

• Winter Learning Institute Series: 15 sessions offered from January to April 2027 

Each session is 3 to 3.5 hours in length and combines presentations, discussion, and practical learning that participants can immediately apply in the work. Please visit our Program page to learn more about all sessions offered in each Series. 

The Learning Institute addresses evolving issues and priorities across the hospice palliative care sector by providing practical, evidence-informed education for clinicians and interdisciplinary care providers across Canada. Delivering the program online also helps reduce barriers related to geography, travel, and cost. 

There are three ways to participate in the 2026-2027 Learning Institute, allowing you to choose the option that best meets your learning needs. 

Can I register for just one session? 

Yes. All Learning Institute sessions are available for individual registration. See more details under Individual Session Registration section. 

Can I register for both the Fall and Winter Learning Institute Series? 

Yes. Registering for both series provides access to all 30 Learning Institute sessions. Please note that each series is a separate registration fee. 

What is the difference between a Series Registration and a Session Bundle? 

A Series Registration provides one participant with access to all 15 sessions in either the Fall or Winter Learning Institute Series. Session Bundles provide flexible registration credits that can be shared among multiple participants and used across both the Fall and Winter series. 

Can I share my Series Registration with someone else? 

No. Series Registrations are non-transferable and are assigned to the participant named during registration. 

Can Session Bundles be shared with colleagues? 

Yes. Session Bundles are designed to be shared within an organization and may be used by multiple participants. 

Can Session Bundles be used for both the Fall and Winter Learning Institute Series? 

Yes. Bundle registrations may be redeemed for any session offered during the 2026-2027 Learning Institute. 

Do I need to decide which sessions my team members will attend at the time of registration when I purchase a Session Bundle? 

No. Once your bundle has been purchased, CHPCA will provide instructions on how to register participants for individual sessions. 

Will I automatically be entered into each session if I purchase a Series Registration? 

Once registered, participants will be sent a form where they can indicate which sessions they intend to attend. Participants may attend any or all sessions within their purchased series; however, we ask that you confirm your intent to join each session so we can plan for attendance. 

After you indicate your interest in a session, you will be automatically registered for that session using the email address provided at the time of purchase. 

If you are unable to attend a session you previously selected, please notify us by email at [email protected] so we can update the attendee list. 

Please note that registrations are non-refundable, including for sessions that a participant is unable to attend. 

How does the Learning Institute compare to a traditional conference or previous in-person/virtual Learning Institutes? 

Each Learning Institute Series offers approximately 45 to 52.5 hours of education (15 sessions at 3 to 3.5 hours each), compared to an average of 15 learning hours at a typical in-person conference and approximately 10 hours in previous Learning Institute sessions – offering roughly 3 to 5 times more learning than a traditional conference and 4 to 5 times more than previous Learning Institutes.
