Learning Institute Registration

The 2026-2027 Learning Institute is a live, virtual, interactive conference program consisting of more than 30 standalone sessions, delivered in two series:

• Fall Learning Institute Series: 15 sessions offered from September to December 2026 

• Winter Learning Institute Series: 15 sessions offered from January to April 2027 

Each session is 3 to 3.5 hours in length and combines presentations, discussion, and practical learning that participants can immediately apply in the work. Please visit our Program page to learn more about all sessions offered in each Series. 

More than a webinar, the CHPCA Learning Institute Virtual Conference is a national learning experience designed to offer more than passive online learning. Each live session brings together professionals from across Canada for expert-led education, practical learning. discussion, and opportunities to connect and share perspectives with colleagues working across hospice palliative care. Delivering the program online also helps reduce barriers related to geography, travel, and cost. 

There are three ways to participate in the 2026-2027 Learning Institute, allowing you to choose the option that best meets your learning needs. 

We know that busy schedules can sometime make it difficult to attend a live session. That is why, based on your feedback, CHPCA is introducing a new Learning Institute Virtual Conference Recording Pass giving you another way to access Learning Institute education when attending live is not possible.  

Following the conclusion of each Learning Institute conference series, Recording Passes will be available for purchase, providing one year of on-demand access to the main-room session recordings for just $150. 

Whenever possible, we encourage you to join us live! The Learning Institute is designed as an interactive learning experience,  with opportunities to ask questions, share ideas, connect with others from across Canada, and participate in discussions and breakout activities. These interactive elements are not included in the recordings.  

The Recording Pass offers flexibility to learn on your own schedule or catch sessions you were unable to attend but the full Learning Institute experience happens live. To be notified when Recording Passes are available for purchase, please complete the form below. 

Can I register for just one session? 

Yes. All Learning Institute sessions are available for individual registration. See more details under Individual Session Registration section. 

Can I register for both the Fall and Winter Learning Institute Series? 

Yes. Registering for both series provides access to all 30 Learning Institute sessions. Please note that each series is a separate registration fee. 

What is the difference between a Series Registration and a Session Bundle? 

A Series Registration provides one participant with access to all 15 sessions in either the Fall or Winter Learning Institute Series. Session Bundles provide flexible registration credits that can be shared among multiple participants and used across both the Fall and Winter series. 

Can I share my Series Registration with someone else? 

No. Series Registrations are non-transferable and are assigned to the participant named during registration. 

Can Session Bundles be shared with colleagues? 

Yes. Session Bundles are designed to be shared within an organization and may be used by multiple participants. 

Can Session Bundles be used for both the Fall and Winter Learning Institute Series? 

Yes. Bundle registrations may be redeemed for any session offered during the 2026-2027 Learning Institute. 

Do I need to decide which sessions my team members will attend at the time of registration when I purchase a Session Bundle? 

No. Once your bundle has been purchased, CHPCA will provide instructions on how to register participants for individual sessions. 

Will I automatically be entered into each session if I purchase a Series Registration? 

Once registered, participants will be sent a form where they can indicate which sessions they intend to attend. Participants may attend any or all sessions within their purchased series; however, we ask that you confirm your intent to join each session so we can plan for attendance. 

After you indicate your interest in a session, you will be automatically registered for that session using the email address provided at the time of purchase. 

If you are unable to attend a session you previously selected, please notify us by email at [email protected] so we can update the attendee list. 

Please note that registrations are non-refundable, including for sessions that a participant is unable to attend. 

Will the Session be recorded?

Following the conclusion of each conference series, a Recording Pass will be available for $150, providing one year of on-demand access to recordings of the main-room sessions from that series. 

While the recordings offer greater flexibility, the Learning Institute is still designed first and foremost as a live learning experience. Joining live gives participants the opportunity to ask questions, share ideas, connect with colleagues, and participate in discussions and breakout activities —interactive elements that are not included in the recordings. Details on how to purchase the Recording Pass will be available at the end of each conference series.

Is the Learning Institute Accredited?

The CHPCA Virtual Learning Institute Conference Series is not currently accredited. As this is the inaugural year of the Learning Institute in its new format, our priority has been to develop a high-quality, responsive program that reflects the evolving needs of the hospice palliative care community.
We intentionally wanted to maintain flexibility during this first year to learn from participants, respond to feedback, incorporate emerging issues, and make adjustments to the program as we learn more about what works best for our audience. Pursuing accreditation at this stage would have required an investment in a program structure before we had the opportunity to fully evaluate and refine the Learning Institute model.

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance for each session they attend, which may be useful for documenting professional development activities, depending on the requirements of their professional organization or employer.

As the Learning Institute evolves, our intention is to explore accreditation for future offerings once we have established a format that we are confident best meets the needs of our learners. The experience and feedback from this inaugural year will help inform that process.

How does the Learning Institute compare to a traditional conference or previous in-person/virtual Learning Institutes? 

Each Learning Institute Series offers approximately 45 to 52.5 hours of education (15 sessions at 3 to 3.5 hours each), compared to an average of 15 learning hours at a typical in-person conference and approximately 10 hours in previous Learning Institute sessions – offering roughly 3 to 5 times more learning than a traditional conference and 4 to 5 times more than previous Learning Institutes.
