In 2006 the CHPCA Champion Award was presented to The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus – Grand Prior of Canada.
The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus is a bilinqual ecumenical and charitable organization with over five thousand members worldwide. The Order has made positive difference in the quality of life of Canadians facing a life-threatening illness and their loved ones, and it has had great impact on the hospice palliative care movement in Canada. The Order’s initial support for the development of ‘A Caregiver’s Guide: A Handbook about End-of-Life Care’ in partnership with the Alberta Hospice Palliative Care Association, has grown into a national resource in four languages adapted for use across Canada.
